We all wish we could be funny enough to create an original meme, but now, you don’t have to worry. Imgflip has an AI meme generator that anyone can use.
What Is This Meme Does Not Exist?
Imgflip has created an AI meme generator powered by machine learning, and it’s not too shabby. That’s because This Meme Does Not Exist was trained on around 100 million meme captions that were posted publicly to Imgflip.
There are 48 meme templates you can choose from, including classics such as the Doge meme, the seagull screaming meme, and the surprised Pikachu face meme. The selection is made of some of the most popular memes of our decade and clicking through the different templates can feel like a trip down memory lane.
The text captions are generated automatically after clicking on a template, and they remain faithful to the original font. There is room to suggest your own text to start it off, but you will have to grab a monthly subscription to try it out.
Nevertheless, you can have fun endlessly generating new memes and sharing them with your friends. Once you’ve had enough with Imgflip, try one of the many other meme generators to make your own meme.
How to Create AI Memes With Imgflip
Head to This Meme Does Not Exist and start by looking through the different meme templates available. A small preview of the template is displayed at the top of the page. All you need to do is click on a template to generate a new caption.
The newly generated meme will show up just underneath the templates. If you want to download it, click Save Meme, then from the popup, select Go to image page. From here, you can right-click on the image and select Save Image As to download it as a JPEG.
The Save Meme button also gives you the option to share your creation via social media, or as a link. To get rid of the Imgflip watermark on the meme, you will have to upgrade to the Imgflip Pro account for $9.95 per month.
To generate a new caption, simply click on the refresh icon (crossed arrows), or go back and click on another meme template. The results vary and sometimes the meme makes no sense at all, but half the fun is seeing what you will get each time you refresh.
If you think you can do a better job than auto-generated memes, you can try out a few free apps to create memes on your iPhone or iPad instead.
Improving the Results
It’s not obvious at first, but you can move the caption on the meme and place it wherever you like on the image. Sometimes this is useful to center the text or rearrange the order of words. You can also click and drag the corner boxes to resize the text, making it larger or smaller.
Besides moving the caption around, you can also enter a prefix text to start the caption and let the AI generator finish it; enter your text in the panel right above the meme image. You can use it to add a friend’s name, for example, to create a personal meme just for them.
Sadly, you only get one chance to try out this function on the free plan. Since it can cost a lot to run a neural network, Imgflip has reserved this feature for the Pro plan.
That’s about all you can do to customize the results, otherwise, you might as well use one of the many meme generator Android apps to manually create a meme.
Play Around With AI Generated Memes
You don’t have to be a comedian to come up with a meme, nor do you need image editing skills. This Meme Does Not Exist uses AI to generate a meme that you can easily share with your friends.
Even though it takes just one click to generate a meme, the results aren’t always perfect. Luckily, half the fun is clicking through the absurd results and laughing at the ones the AI gets just right.
