How to Delete Your BeReal
Many people don’t know you can delete your BeReal posts even after you have already posted them. You can only delete your most recent BeReal though, meaning you cannot delete them from your BeReal memories. Here’s how to get rid of a BeReal post at different stages…
Before Posting
If you took your BeReal but haven’t posted it yet, deleting it is simple. Just tap the X icon at the top right of the photo to delete it. Then, you can retake your BeReal. Your friends will be able to see that you retook your BeReal by tapping on it and looking at the number of retakes.
Deleting a BeReal After Posting
If you have already posted your BeReal, you can still delete it by following these steps:
Tap the three dots next to the time under your BeReal Tap Options Tap Delete my BeReal. Choose why you want to delete tap Yes, I’m sure. Tap Delete.
Why You Should (Or Shouldn’t) Delete Your BeReal
The whole point of BeReal is to show your authentic self in-the-moment, so it is best not to overuse the delete feature. However, if the BeReal you posted contains personal information within the photo such as your address or phone number, you should probably delete it for safety purposes. You may also want to delete a BeReal containing sensitive or personal information of others. This often happens when your BeReal photo includes your computer screen or desk, where this information might be displayed.
If your BeReal contains content that BeReal recommends users to report in its terms of service, then you should also delete that BeReal.
If you don’t like your BeReal because you don’t look perfect in it or just because it is boring, you can delete it, but it is not recommended. This type of deleting defeats the purpose of the BeReal app, and makes your profile less authentic and more curated. And remember, you can only delete a BeReal you’ve posted once per day.
